Message: Pie is delicious and pretty much everyone loves to eat it! The message is that our company quite simply makes and sells the best pies. We try to make it as easy as possible to find us, use us for catering, weddings, holidays, etc. We want to draw people to come into our shop and have a piece of delicious pie. We do that with inviting pictures. We also tell about the quality of our pies. I had planned on doing something else for my project, but when I learned it was pie day on Monday, I made a pie. While I was making it, I decided pies would make a great website.
Audience: Everyone who loves to eat desserts, but especially those who love pie!
After I decided to make my website based on a pie shop, I had to figure out what it would look like. I knew I wanted a picture of a scrumptious pie front and center. I decided to put the logo in the upper left corner with a heading/navigation bar next to it in a different color. I placed some text below the picture and drew in the footer. Last of all I added three circle pictures of slices of pies above the footer. Transforming this into Photoshop was a little difficult for me, because I am still learning Photoshop. Getting it to work for me can be painfully slow sometimes. But I learned a lot doing this project. I finished my wire frames fairly easily. I spent quite a while trying to figure out a logo. Once I had the idea, it still took awhile to bring together. Brent Fisher helped me figure out how to get my Logo into the project. It was tricky to create because I had to use five text boxes to include everything and have it in the right places. I aligned everything, so it would all fit together. Then I saved it as a pdf and made it into a jpeg. I didn’t know how to clip it, but Brent did. It was pretty easy once I learned what to do. The rest was fairly easy. I really appreciated your critique, Sister Larson. I start being pleased with my project because it is starting to look nice. But you always see it with fresh eyes that can quickly tell what would improve it. And it does! Thank you!
The following people critiqued my project:
Kristen Larson Last Critique of the night! You made it! http://screencast.com/t/ymu7yGaz5L0
1. Add year to copyright.
2. Remove grid, unless intentionally there.
3. Make footer narrower.
4. Increase logo size.
Shelley Guthrie Tiffany Be sure to remove the grid from behind the circle shapes near the bottom. Maybe increase the font in your logo. I love the apple red color throughout. This looks delicious!
Sharon Lundgren Coleman Very cool project. Nice job. I agree, the logo font should stand out a little more. Can’t see anything else I would change.
I really appreciated all the great critiques. I used all of the suggestions. Removing the grid made my project look a lot cleaner. I was surprised how much better it looked when I made the footer narrower. It also corrected the spacing above and below the circle pictures to make them more even. Increasing the logo size made the biggest difference, I think.
